David Thompson
David qualified in 2002. He specialises in Commercial Litigation and Sports Law. He is ranked as a leading individual in Legal 500 for sport and is ranked in Band 2 in Wales in the Chambers UK Guide.
David has specialised in commercial litigation since qualification. In 2005, he became in-house solicitor and Legal and Commercial director of a multi million pound manufacturing and importing business. He understands the implications for a business of disputes and how costly they can be, not only in terms of legal bills but management time. Resolving disputes quickly and cheaply is his focus. But if there has to be a fight he loves rolling up his sleeves and has fearsome attention to detail.
Before returning to private practice in 2009 David acted as the CEO of the Crusaders Rugby League team, helping bring Super League to Wales for the first time. David knows from personal experience the many areas where elite sports clubs and sports people need legal advice and combines this practical experience with his professional knowledge.
The combination of practical business experience and legal knowledge is also something David brings to his clients when acting as their in-house counsel. He is a litigator helping clients avoid disputes in the future.
David’s 140 word profile for Twitter if he had an account would be:
Commercial litigator and sports lawyer, also providing in-house services. Loves his family, sports, cooking and eating. Uneasy tweeter.
